Asisat Oshoala of super falcons, nominated for 2023 Ballon d'Or award

Asisat Oshoala of super falcons, has been nominated for the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or after a successful campaign with Barcelona women side.

French Football, organisers of the award, listed the nominees in a tweet on their handle late wednesday 6th September 2023 and included the Nigerian amongst other 30 people shortlisted.

Asisat Oshoala hopes to knock off competition from 29 other players including  Women’s World Cup winner Aitana Bonmati to land Ballon d'Or.

Oshoala won the Champions League with her side and was also part of the Nigerian team that crashed out in the round of 16 at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand just last month.

Asisat Oshoala was very instrumental in her team’s Primera Division triumph and featured as they clinched the Supercopa de Espana Femenina to complete a historic treble.

Asisat Oshoala scored 21 league goals in 28 games last season.
